It was heartening to hear Mr.Chidmbaram speaking in clear terms that he would use army if need arises to defeat the Naxal menace.
This is a drastic shift from the government’s earlier stand.
It’s impossible for the grossely under-equipped and ill-trained civilian police and paramilitary forces to fight Naxalism, that too under the harsh conditions that exist in jungles where naxals are rooted.
Naxalism has spread into 220 districts from 161 districts within a year. If it’s not defeated and thouroughly eradicated in its early stages India will have to pay dearly for the negligence now.
Chidambaram so far has made right noises along with the PM, now he must act and save India its resources both human and material in the future.
He has also indicated that a major offensive is on the anvil at the end of the year against naxals. Hope that happens and people who profess violence get their due.
Naxals fail to understand that in India it’s not the violence that teaches lesson to erring politicians and beauracrats but the persistent unified voices of people that has the potential to shake the very foundation of the system.
Guns silence voices- of the people and the rulers…….silence prevails everywhere……..and the system remains same – immune, stubborn and decayed.
